We are family.
You may be thinking a song
May comfort your ears.

REFLECTION: world traveler?

Woah, you traveled around the world! That's so awesome!  You must know so much about the world.

A thought came to mind today on the way to class. I may have thought that I was a world (or global) citizen because I was abroad for most of my life.  I was born in South Korea and left the country when I was six to settle in the Western world.  My family lived in England for three and a half years, and little did we know that we would go to Eastern Europe and settle in Romania for another four and a half.  After going back to Korea and waiting a year for our visa, we finally crossed the Pacific and landed in New Jersey.
When I tell people here about my adventurous past, most of them, if not all, look at me with envy.  They think that I have experienced the world, and some of them actually say it to my face.  I would like to take this time to disagree and say this to their faces, "No, I still don't know much about the world."
I understand that they may not mean what they say.  They already know the fact that the world consists of more than Europe, Asia, and the Americas.  What they may not know is what the world really consists of.  Three-fourths of the world is poor.  There's violence, poverty, and diseases everywhere.  The places where I lived certainly weren't poor; with the exception of Romania, the countries that I lived and visited were developed countries.  Romania was poor compared to most of Western Europe, but it was not even near the kind of poverty that most countries around the world face.  I merely got a glimpse of what poverty is like.  I bet a businessman traveled around the world more than I did, but that doesn't necessarily mean they know about the places they briefly stayed.  If you wanna meet someone that has real experience with the world, find a missionary.
There's still a lot for me to learn about the world, and I'm willing to do it even here in the US.  And so can you, or rather, you should.

Liebe Lene

Hallo!  Wie geht's denn?

Hast du mich vergessen?  Ich denke so.  Du hast wieder mich vergessen.  Warum bist du sehr faul?  Ich habe dich vermisst.
Hast du viel zu machen jetzt? Bist du müde? Ach, warum musst du beschäftigt sein?  Du sollst mit Freunden spielen.  Was? Sie sind beschäftigt auch?  Schade.
Was denkst du denn? Etwas interessant? Etwas froh? Etwas traurig?
Ich denke, du bist traurig und müde.  Du sollst schlafen jetzt, oder?
Aber warum bist du traurig?  Willst du reden?  Nein? Kein Problem.
Bist du allein?  Denkst du, dass du allein bist?  Aber du hast mich!  Ich war immer hier mit dir.  Du sollst keine Sorgen haben.  Ich bin hier doch!
Sag mir alles.  Was ist dein Problem?  Wir können von dem Anfang beginnen.
.......
Du weisst nicht?  Das ist nicht gut.
Kannst du ein bisschen erinnern?
.......
Ach so.

Lene

No new challenge for now.  Let more of the randomness begin.

Good Morning

Something I wrote out of the blue during my hermit time in the music annex. (sorry for the poor sound and video quality!)

The idea is that the sun is shining bright in the morning, the sun rays are gently falling down on me (who's still asleep), but I'm not really willing to wake up.  I try to open my eyes and slowly get up, but I end up lying down on my bed again.  The sun tries again, but it still doesn't work.  Then it starts to shine so brightly (forte!) that I finally get up, and this is where we are in harmony, working together to stay awake and look forward to a brand new day.  As I'm about to start the day, I thank the sun by singing its melody and go out to wake everyone else up.

I didn't mean to make such a deep interpretation out of a short song, but it made sense in my head.  It just randomly came out.  I tend to refer the sun to God, who is always trying to wake me up or take action when He wants me to.  I try so hard to hold on to my own pleasures (sleeping!), but in the end, God offers something better -- a musical harmony that warms my heart and soul.

I'm extremely shy of showing things like this to others (not even my family knows about this), but I think that's rather selfish of me to keep these talents for myself and not share the abilities that God has given me.  Thus, the creation of this blog, even though nobody knows about it.

Now, how about writing a letter in German?  Why?  No reason in particular.  There shouldn't be any reason as to why I even have this blog of randomness.

Life of a bum rap

I wake up in the morning, see the time on my phone
"Oh my, so late!" I say in a dazzled tone.
"Oh, wait, just kidding. What's the big deal?
I got another day for me to just bum and chill.
I be eating when I'm told and I'm back on my bed
Checking emails and facebook, now it's time to rest.
No job, no money - got em worries in my head
But at least I'm enjoying my life at its best.
"It's a waste of time! Why don't you do something?"
Says the other half of me that loves to pull the strings
"Like what?" "Do yoga. Take a walk. Read that book
That's been sitting right next to your bed.  Take a look!
Oh, and what about that journal you promised to finish?
You're almost done! Stop bumming and smelling like a fish
Wash up, dress up, take a seat, and write
Just do it step by step, and it'll be alright."
Now I have to say, I did the first thing; now I'm clean,
But I forgot about the rest, so I'm back to the computer screen.
Well, there's nothing going on after hours of internet,
So why don't I try something new instead?
Like what?...I don't know...
Oh, wait, I never wrote a rap before.
So here I am rappin' and droppin' the beat,
and rockin' in my PJs, that's the way to be. Chyeah..

Well, it took a while to get motivated, thus the delay.
I still feel accomplished with this pointless rap.
Now, what's next?

Upload one of the songs I composed on the piano last year.
I mean, why not.  Can't hide it forever.

hmm

what if i blogged in korean?
i barely type in korean, so what makes me think i can make a blog post in korean?

well, imma go for it.
i'm still able to type in korean, so why not? i can think in korean, too, right?
